The highest price of war
American Doughboys receiving aid at an ambulance. Countless numbers were lost or wounded and maimed. My uncle Johnny O'Rourke (see War Stories section) received the Distinguished Service Cross, posthumously. He also was awarded the Silver Star and Purple Heart for gallantry in action at Blanc Mont Ridge. He was killed in action 3 October 1918. Six weeks before war's end.
