Thelma and friend, Shirley
The back of this photo is written 'Thelma and Shirley'. The only Thelma in the family was Thelma L. "Peggy" Henry. She was the daughter of Lena (Tribbey) Henry Cook and Leroy "Roy" Henry. Thelma would be the shorter girl in the photo because her name is written first on the back of the picture and because she looks alot like other family members (very similiar to her brother, George Henry). She also has one niece that looks the most like her in this photo. Since Thelma was born in 1909 this picture would have been taken in the late 1920's to the early 1930's. It was most likely taken in Hamilton, Butler County, Ohio. Shirley would've been a good friend or maybe a relative.
Thelma had one baby in 1926 but the baby died from a premature birth. Thelma married Andrew Bokeno in about the 1930's. They lived near each other on Pleasant Ave in Hamilton in the 1920's. Thelma and Andrew were witnesses together for the 1934 marriage of Thelma's brother, George A Henry and Helen J Sositko at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Hamilton, Ohio. Thelma and Andrew divorced or separated.
Thelma lived with her boyfriend, Robert "Bob" Gersbach for many years until her death.
Notice Thelma's dutch boy haircut.
Thelma's niece, Terry remembers getting a birthday card from her "Aunt Peggy" every year.
People in photo include: Thelma L. Henry
Date & Place: in Hamilton, Butler County, Ohio United States
