These three men may be graduates of the Citadel in Charleston, SC. The blonde on the end is William E. Holmes, my Great Grandfather who died in 1903 of Bright's disease. other men are unknown. William was married to Mary Ringwood, father of Marie Holmes Converse.

Mystery: the mystery photo is of three men who may be graduates of the Citadel in Charleston, SC. It is one of three tintypes my mother has had in her possession for years. This is the only one with Holmes in it, my gr-grandfather who died in 1903.

Claire Zahn Recently, during research, it was found that, the Holmes is William H. and not William E who was his father and that the Citadel has written to me letting me know this photo was NOT taken at the Citadel. Therefore, it is possible that the photo was taken somewhere near Poughkeepsie, NY and that the men with William could possibly be Ringwoods, who were William's in-laws. We are still unsure as to who the young men are. They could also be Holmes from the Charleston, South Carolina area.
