Titanic Builders - Harland and Wolff Heavy Industries
Harland and Wolff Heavy Industries workers building the famous RMS Titanic circa 1910 or 1911.

Harland and Wolff Heavy Industries, founded in 1861 by Edward James Harland and Gustav Wilhelm Wolff, is located in Belfast, Northern Ireland and is still operational. (In 1912, the company also acquired a shipyard in Glasgow, Scotland)

The business has built such famous ships as the sister ships the Olympic, the Titanic and the Britannic; the Royal Navy's HMS Belfast; Royal Mail's Andes; Shaw Savill's Southern Cross; and P&O's Canberra.

Because there is no longer the great demand for large ships, the focus of Harland and Wolff - still in business today - is on design and structural engineering as well as ship repair.
Date & Place: in Belfast, Ireland United Kingdom

I want to build a place where my son can meet his great-grandparents. My grandmother Marian Joyce (Benning) Kroetch always wanted to meet her great-grandchildren, but she died just a handful of years before my son's birth. So while she didn't have the opportunity to meet him, at least he will be able to know her. For more information about what we're building see About AncientFaces. My father's side is full blood Sicilian and my mother's side is a combination of Welsh, Scottish, German and a few other European cultures. One of my more colorful (ahem black sheep) family members came over on the Mayflower. He was among the first to be hanged in the New World for a criminal offense he made while onboard the ship.
