Adele Amelia Gervasi was born on September 3, 1925 in Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania, USA to parents Carolina Zodiaco Gervasi (1898-1980) and Giovanni John Gervasi (1891-1965). She had siblings Gaetanan Annie, Anne, Joseph james, and Vincent Thomas Gervasi. She lived in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and attended the South Philadephia High School For Girls. On February 15, 1947 she married Robert Harrison Johnson (1922-1980) in Philly. Together they had six children.
