This image was taken during his successful career as the head coach of the Green Bay Packers. During the 1960's, Vince Lombardi lead the Green Bay Packers to win three NFL Championships and two Super Bowls. He never had a losing season as a head coach in the NFL.

The Vince Lombardi trophy is awarded every year to the winning team in the NFL Super Bowl. It was officially renamed in 1970 in memory of legendary Green Bay Packers head coach Vince Lombardi after his sudden death from cancer and to commemorate his victories in the first two Super Bowls. Unlike the Stanley Cup, a new Vince Lombardi Trophy is made annually and stays with the victor.

In 1967, He received Fordham University’s highest honor, the Insignis Medal, for being a great teacher.

My grandmother Marian Joyce (Benning) Kroetch always wanted to meet her great-grandchildren, but she died just a handful of years before my son's birth. So while she didn't have the opportunity to meet him, at least he will be able to know her. For more information about what we're building see About AncientFaces. My father's side is full blood Sicilian and my mother's side is a combination of Welsh, Scottish, German and a few other European cultures. One of my more colorful (ahem black sheep) family members came over on the Mayflower. He was among the first to be hanged in the New World for a criminal offense he made while onboard the ship.
