William M Alsobrook died while serving the Confederacy. Although he would have been allowed to go see his family that Christmas day, he was too ill. He died of "flux" that day while just 50 miles from home. I found once instance where the military claims he died Dec 22, but that could be because the military of that time did not like to report deaths on Christian Holidays.
This death date came from a family tree on Ancestry.com. If this is truly her death date, she was ten years old when she died. It was a month before her father died. Her mother was pregnant at the time with Mary, who was destined to live only eight years. I wonder if her father was able to come home for the funeral. How devastating to lose a child and a husband a month apart.

Henry Edward Alsobrook had stomach cancer and knew it was terminal. He prayed God would allow him to share one last Christmas with his family and he refused to remain in a hospital with that hope. On Christmas 1957, he rallied and was able to sit up in bed and play with his two young children and their new toys. Two hours into the following morning, he passed away peacefully in his sleep.
The first time I met Shirley, she closed the front door in my face. I was about 17 when I'd stopped by the house on Madison Street to see Bobby. Shirley answered the door, but only opened it a few inches. I asked if Bobby was there. She replied with an abrupt "No" and shut the door in my face. Eventually, we became great friends, but it took a while.

My grandfathers name is Paul Jeffrey Harris-Alsobrook who was adopted by Emma (1903-1997)and Keely Alsobrook in 1956 where they lived in Dallas county. Paul took Keely's last name. Paul Alsobrook married Peggy Love and they had 3 sons Ricky Alsobrook, Jeff Alsobrook, and Kirk Alsobrook Sr. Ricky Alsobrook married Kitty Alsobrook, who had 3 sons- Sean Alsobrook, Michael Alsobrook, and Derrick Alsobrook. Jeff Alsobrook had one daughter- Paula Alsobrook. Kirk Alsobrook Sr. had four children-Kirk Alsobrook Jr., Amberly Alsobrook, Kyle Alsobrook, and Haley Alsobrook.
