Introduction

Bobby Edward Alsobrook is the son of Ruby Faye Pilgrim and Henry Edward Alsobrook. His father died the day after the Christmas of 1957. Ruby lived a long, fruitful life and did not pass away until 2022. Bobby has two sons and two grandchildren. He has lived in Pittsburg, Gilmer and Longview. Until he retired in 2020, he worked in some aspect of the auto parts sales world. He married Rosalyn Rutledge Alsobrook April 8, 1971 in her parents' home and they remain married today.

Bobby's family has been traced back to Darlington District in South Carolina, where his second-great grandfather, William M Alsobrook, was born in November 1830. Then in Dyer County, Tennessee in 1950, William was married to Sue Ann Snow and living in the Pitts home. By 1857, they had moved to Carroll Parish, Louisiana where William bought land in 1859. After he died on Christmas Day 1862 at Vicksburg, Mississippi while serving the Confederacy, Bobby's second-great grandmother (Sue Ann Snow) stayed in Louisianna long enough to give birth to Mary, the child she carried at the time of his death. She did not remarry. By 1880, she had already moved to Garland, Hempstead County, Arkansas when she sold the last of land back in Louisiana and did so through the Arkansas County Courts. She was in Sevier County, Arkansas when she applied for a military pension in 1982 and bought land in 1985. Her son, Ralph Capers Alsobrook, Sr (4th of 5 children) is Bobby's great-grandfather and was born in 1860 back in Louisianna. In 1885, Ralph married Mattie Victoria Daley in Nevada County, Arkansas; but by the birth of their second child in 1889, they had moved on to Pike County, Arkansas. By 1910, Ralph and Mattie are in Red River County, Texas with their eight children. The 1930 census finds Ralph in Franklin County, Texas living with their youngest child Jewell Fuller Alsobrook and his family. Their oldest child, Robert Lee Alsobrook, Sr. is Bobby's paternal grandfather who in 1915 married May Belle Buckhanon (or Buckhannon) in Franklin County, Texas. But by 1920, they live in bordering Titus County, Texas. They have moved up to Lamar County by the 1930 census. In 1935, Ralph and May Belle are in Hopkins County, which is south of Lamar and west of Franklin. May Belle died in Franklin County, in 1951. But when Robert Sr died in 1959, he was in Monterey, California. This is where his four daughters (Elsie, Exa, Estell and Lillian) and one son (Artie) had moved by the 1950 census. With May Belle gone, the daughters likely saw the need to move him closer to them. Two sons (Robert Jr and Henry) remained in Texas. Bobby's father was one of those two. Henry Edward Alsobrook was the fifth child born in 1928, while the family was in Titus County. In 1947, he married Ruby Faye Pilgrim from neighboring Camp County. This was just two years after his brother, Robert, married Ruby's sister, Gladys. This made the children of these to couple double-cousins. Henry and Ruby chose to live in her hometown of Pittsburg in Camp County. That is where their son, Bobby Edward Alsobrook, was born in Feb 1952. Bobby's sister, Shirley, was also born there in May 1956. Bobby met Rosalyn Rutledge from nearby Daingerfield, Texas at a rival high school football game the fall of 1968. It was before the game and Bobby was waiting near the field to be part of the pre-game homecoming festivities before suiting up for the game. Seeing Rosalyn walking by in her DHS pep squad uniform, he called out to her as she passed by, "Pittsburg is going to win this game. We haven't lost a homecoming game in 7 years." Rosalyn stopped to turn and explain, "But Daingerfield hasn't lost a single game in three years." An argument ensued and ended with a 50-cent wager as to which team was going to win the game. Daingerfield won, and with only his name to go on, she managed to track him down through a friend by early February. She made him pay the 50 cents from losing the wager; and he has continued to pay ever since. As of April 2022, they have been married 51 years. Together they have two sons: Andrew Edward Alsobrook and Anthony Alan Alsobrook. Through Andrew, they have two grandchildren: Christina Nicole Alsobrook and Bryce Edward Alsobrook. As of 2022, Anthony has no children.
Early Life & Education

Bobby attended grade school and high school in Pittsburg, Texas. He graduated Kilgore College with a business degree.
Professional Career

Bobby worked various part time jobs in high school, including working for a gas station and a grocery store. In 1971, he began working for ABC Auto Parts in Longview, which his father-in-law was 45% owner. In 1976, he opened his own business: Bobby's Discount Auto Center and Garage in Gilmer, Texas. In 1986, he sold out to ABC and began a long career as a remanufacturing auto parts sales representative for various national remanufacturing corporations. He retired 2020.
