He was later Grandfather to 8 Grandchildren. Upon returning from the War he resumed duties with the Melbourne City Council as an electrician. At one point later on, he was responsible for electrical work done on the Shrine of Remembrance.         He was also a keen pigeon racer, with his birds holding a number of racing records.
