Only just recently ( 2018 ) has this writer come across this ancestor of the Leak, Leake, Leek, & Leeke family. The known records on him spell his surname as Leeke as well as Leek. The exact place in England where he was born, got married, & died ( along with that of his wife, Mary Waddon, whom he married after 1600. ) is not known. Nor is there any known info to suggest that they immigrated to America. So, most likely both passed away before 1635. Listed dates for Thomas Leek are just guesses. That his grandson, born in Connecticut, was named after him is a good possibility. If Thomas had any siblings is unknown.

He was a little above medium height and sported mutton chop type whiskers during most of his adult life. He was also an avid horseman. Amongst a small handful of likenesses of him that survive, perhaps the most prominent was a painting by Thomas Van Zandt showing him sleigh riding. He wed on Feb.20,1851 in Troy, N.Y. to Caroline Hart and had 8 children.
