Only just recently ( 2018 ) has this writer come across this ancestor of the Leak, Leake, Leek, & Leeke family. The known records on him spell his surname as Leeke as well as Leek. The exact place in England where he was born, got married, & died ( along with that of his wife, Mary Waddon, whom he married after 1600. ) is not known. Nor is there any known info to suggest that they immigrated to America. So, most likely both passed away before 1635. Listed dates for Thomas Leek are just guesses. That his grandson, born in Connecticut, was named after him is a good possibility. If Thomas had any siblings is unknown.
James married in Missouri after 1953 to Lecha Hooy who is still living as of 2018. The complete info on his family is unavailable if and how many children they had before his untimely death.
Charles wed after 1950 in Missouri to Virginia Davis who, as of 2018, is still living. Immedite data on her is unavailable as well as the number and names of the children they had.

Henry wed about 1954 in Missouri to Jeanne ( surname unknown ), b. Sept.27,1927 in Vilvoordi, Belgium and d. June 4,2016 in Carthage, Missouri. Most likely they had children, but exactly how many is not known.
Brought to the attention of this writer just recently in the spring of 2018, Harold suffered from food poisoning caused by consuming either an unripe apple or the apple was not cleaned beforehand for human consumption. The date of burial could have been within no more than 2 days after Harold's death.

Most likely, Caroline Hart did not know her mother in law ( who passed away in 1844 ). Caroline did have one thing in common with her mother in law in that she is a descendant of the 11th century King of Scotland named Malcolm Canmore. So, her eight children with Hamilton Shields as well as them are of known Royal Scottish descent. Caroline had dark brown hair with a clear complexion. She wed Hamilton Shields on Feb.20,1851 in Troy, N.Y. Via her father, she was aware of a property called Furnace Grove located 2 miles east of Bennington, Vt. & she and her husband bought the property in 1858 and for many years it was their summer home.
Hamilton was an 1846 graduate of the military academy at West Point, N.Y. and personally knew of many famous military personalities who later served during the Civil War ( He did not serve during the Civil War. But he followed the news on it closely and could reasonably predict the moves and success of many of the Generals of that war. ) He saw military action during the Mexican War War from 1846-1848 & rose to the rank of Captain which he was noted for the rest of his life ( one military colleague, Jefferson Davis, he had bad feelings about. According to family tradition, he contemplated challenging him to a duel ). He resigned from his commission in the 1850s and was a lawyer and a farmer for the rest of his life. He was a little above medium height and sported mutton chop type whiskers during most of his adult life. He was also an avid horseman. Amongst a small handful of likenesses of him that survive, perhaps the most prominent was a painting by Thomas Van Zandt showing him sleigh riding. He wed on Feb.20,1851 in Troy, N.Y. to Caroline Hart and had 8 children. Via his father in law, he was introduced to a property called Furnace Grove located two miles east of Bennington, Vt. and in 1858 when he checked it out and found it was for sale, he bought the property and for many years it was a summer home for his family.
