Galen Beery This is not an 'old fashioned buggy' but a Baker Electric Car, probably a 1904 - 1910 model. Goggle 'Baker Electric Car' and you'll find scads of information.

Galen Beery Wallace Beery is my fifth cousin, once removed. It is rather charming to have such a character as a relative. I have the Beery Family History which goes back to the 1700's and details the lives of thousands of Beerys and their kin. Anyone need a lookup -email me.

Galen Beery I sent a copy of the photo to an old roommate of mine in New York. He responded as follows: Some Jewish people perform the tashlikh. This is the custom of reciting prayers near naturally flowing water, such as a stream or river, and symbolically throwing one’s sins away in the form of small pieces of bread or other food. Many Jewish people perform tashlikh from places such as the Brooklyn and Manhattan bridges in New York. Some people may use a fish pond or mikveh (ritual bath) if there is no local river or stream. I seem to have a recollection of same. So there you are!
