Henry Browning I grew up not knowing what it was like to be rich so life was wonderful. My father was a returned WW1 digger and our mansion was two canvas tents placed end to end. one the bedroom with a wooden floor the other the kitchen dirt floor covered mostly with pieces of linoleum & newspaper. I remember the plumbing a small gutter around the base of tents to keep the inside dry in the wet Toys were hand made I recall a steam roller made from an empty golden syrup tin filled with sand with cord through the centre I made some roads engineers would be envious of Bread with a liberal spread of lard seasoned with pepper or a treat apricot jam with cream from a dairy farm close by I had a small kangaroo for a pet dad said he did not have to feed it there being plenty of grass. This was our home for four years until my father was employed fulltime as a telegraph linesman we then moved into a small house on the outskirts of town Mother was a great cook providing healthy and sustaining meals from whatever she had on hand I started school at 7 years walking the two miles until I was given a small bicycle I left High School at 14 years and 8 months and entered the workforce My early years were the greatest learning curve in my life it taught me to be frugal and appreciate mother nature in many ways I have not named the Town on the far North Coast of NSW Australia for personal reasons. I am almost 83 had a very interesting life representing my country in my chosen sport and current World Champion & Guinnes record holder Enjoy every moment of your life if you are poor= be rich in your goals= you will succeed
