Henry Randolph Walton Simpson was b. 3 Mar 1895 in Mississippi, grew up there in Edwards, Hinds County, the son of Edward Augustus and Nellie (Bankston) Walton. He later changed his last name to Simpson, his step-father's name. He married 3 times, the third time in West Virginia, where this photo was made. It depicts him at age 29, with his dog Tango.
Victoria McCoy is related to the famous McCoys of the feud, having been born to William McCoy and Sarah Ann Maynard in Pike County KY, and living in Mingo and Logan Counties of WV also. She had at least 11 children, two daughters from an unverified father, Myrtle and Alice, and 9 by her known husband George Washington Hobbs. Victoria was b. 1866/67 and d. 1935, and is buried in Memorial Park in Logan County WV. She related that as a girl, she saw one of the feud shootings take place, with a cousin of hers being shot as he crossed the Tug River I believe. Don't know details for certain on that story, but it was vivid for her.
Clyde Parks was the son of Evans Alexander Parks and Josephine __________ (possibly Tilley or Minter.) He lived in Logan County WV, where he worked at #5 tipple, coupling railroad cars. He was killed on the job at approx. age 27, and was buried in Sarah Ann, WV, in the Hatfield Cemetery. He never married.
This is Ella Nunley, 7th child of Benjamin and Jane ________ Nunley of Wayne County WV and Boyd County KY. Ella was b. 1882 and died 6 may 1907, a young wife of Millard Sansom and mother with at least 3 daugters, Emma Jean (Ethel), Verlia, and Addie. She had red hair, which passed down the family in later generations. This picture was used to make a metal funeral plaque, and husband was cut off.
This photo is of Charles Nunley, son of Benjamin F. and Jane ______ Nunley. He was b. 1872 in Wayne County WV or possibly in KY, and d. between 1910/1920. Wife was Evaline Walker, married 2 Mar 1906. He left behind Lona or Lara, Amos, Benjamin and Lowell.
This photo is of Adelaide/Adalade Gilkerson Sansom, daughter of Ira and Sarah (Price) Gilkerson, and wife of Greenville Sansom. She was the mother of 17 children, and lived in Wayne County WV all her life.
