Photo was taken in Koblenz, Germany. It was the only time in my grandfather's life when he gained weight from all the German beer and potatoes that they were fed. He survived being wounded and gassed during the Battle of Belleau Wood in July 1918 when he was with the 76th Co. 6th Marines with the Indian Head Division.

Tom Lanagan After being orphaned in 1905, he and his older brother ran away from the farm that social services had placed them with and had a series of adventures getting out to Chicago. There they were able to locate an aunt and uncle on their mother's side (McCool) who took them in and raised them along with a younger sister who they sent for that was still in Boston.
