Elzora Alice was born to Senia (Minnie) and George Mitchell in Indiana in August (19th) of 1905. She was the youngest of four children, and her least favorite job on the farm was to help gather eggs from the chicken coop. Making mud pies with those eggs added in and getting caught was the first "whippin" she remembered, given by her oldest sister, Hazel. Elzora's father committed suicide in January of 1911 when she was 5 years old. Her father's sister, Ettie Della (Mitchell) Batton had recently divorced from Samuel Porter Batton, and Senia married Batton and moved to Calumet, Oklahoma with her children Hazel, Victor, Biddie and Elzora, along with Porter's son, Arthur Estes Batton. Elzora went to school up through the 8th grade and received a certificate of completion of education from the El Reno public school system, in Canadian county. Elzora attended the Church of Christ in El Reno, and met (Henry) Ernest Kidd there. After a year and a half of courting, they married in Norman in May of 1922, and began attending the First Church of the Nazarene. Shortly thereafter, they made their home in El Reno and joined the Nazarene church there. Elzora was a member of the choir, played the piano occasionally for services, and was a home maker. Elzora and Ernest's first child, Alice Luvern (Kidd) Stroud, was born in October of 1923. Their second child, Alta Lavonne (Kidd) Hickerson - Clements - Humphrey was born in July of 1935. Elzora battled agoraphobia and major depressive disorder for much of her adult life. Although she was never formally diagnosed, her behaviors were classic textbook examples of both disorders. From the 1960s until her death in 1998, Elzora rarely left her house, and would not spend more than 3 to 4 hours away from it. Ernest ran all errands, and was very protective of her up until his death in 1997. Elzora enjoyed playing dominoes and Rook, doing crossword puzzles and word searches, and reading the bible. She sang occasionally, but preferred humming hymns. When in a good mood, she would tell stories of her mother, her childhood, and sing songs that she learned as a child. She saved many family pictures over the years, and labeled many of them with names and dates. Elzora remained sound of mind until the age of 90. She still recognized her children and grandchildren on her deathbed, and was ready to join her husband in the hereafter.

Elzora Kidd of El Reno, Canadian County, OK was born on August 19, 1905, and died at age 92 years old on June 22, 1998.
