Joseph Benjamin Copes Sr. of Higganum, Middlesex County, CT was born on September 16, 1917 at Higganum in Haddam to Bennedetto Copes and Josephina (Malacarne) Copes. He had siblings John Copes, Josephina (Copes) Nemit, Amelia (Copes) Negrelli, Aldo V (Copes) Sr., and Mary J. (Copes) Papa. Joseph was baptized on March 31, 1918 at St Joseph's RC Church 48 Middlesex Turnpike, in Chester. He married Carolyn E (Shaw) Copes on June 7, 1947 in Higganum, Middlesex County, and they were married until Joseph's death on December 5, 1995 in Haddam, Middlesex County. He had children Joseph B. Copes, Jr., Carla L (Copes) Antonowicz, Rosemary Louise (Copes) Moran, and Marrie E (Copes) Chrostex. Joseph Copes was buried in December 1995 at Burr District Cemetery 793 Killingworth Rd, in Haddam.
