Alice Jane Hanson was born October 10, 1936 to Roy David Hanson (1897-1972) and Mildred Ann Collins (1910-1973). She lived in and around Des Moines, Iowa. She married Nile Daniel Goldsberry (1931-1999) on March 16, 1955. They shared 44 years of marriage until his passing on October 7, 1999. To this union seven children were born, five of which survived to adulthood. She told me (her granddaughter Brittany Hoover) that she was working cleaning houses and fell down the stairs while pregnant with Nile Jr. in 1955. He was born prematurely on Christmas Eve and only weighed a little over a pound. He is said to be buried in Davenport, Iowa but I have not found where. She became pregnant again, but Susie Ann was born prematurely on July 29, 1957. According to her death certificate she was born at Saint Louis city hospital #1 and lived for 45 minutes before passing away from respiratory insufficiency due to prematurity. The death certificate states that her body was donated to the anatomical board. She told me that her “insides just weren’t healed enough from the fall.” She then we on to deliver five healthy babies! Roscoe (Rocky) Dennis (1958-2004), Rodrick (Rod) Dean (1960- living), Ronald (Ronnie) (1961-living), Rosie Dee (1962-living), and Robin Dewight (1964-living). She told me about 3 babies that she lost but I can only find documentation on two. We think there was a miscarriage between Rosie and Robin. She didn’t like to talk about her loses, and only told me about it when a character on Days of our lives lost a child and she was crying. She babysat the local children while raising her own to help contribute financially. She never had a drivers license, and when one of her sisters came down from Iowa, and tried to teach her to drive, she quit trying after she drove onto the stairs leading to the porch. She was a lovely woman, loved her family and husband fiercely. She loved her rose bushes, and putting bird seed out for the birds. Her home was always inviting and cozy. She is survived by four of her children, eleven grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. Her genes are still showing up strong in the newest members of the family with her eye color!

Alice B Goldsberry of Glouster, Athens County, OH was born on May 10, 1930, and died at age 75 years old on September 11, 2005. Alice Goldsberry was buried at Dayton National Cemetery Section 19-B Site 536 Va Medical Center - 4100 West Third Street, in Dayton.

Alice L Goldsberry of Fort Scott, Bourbon County, KS was born on December 18, 1907, and died at age 85 years old on September 21, 1993.
