2 Anna Lapuszynski Biographies

Anna was the wife of Nikander Lapuszynski. They married in Belarus in 1939. They had 2 children by 1942. They were taken by Nazi soldiers to work in slave labor camps. Both children, boys, died as a result. She and her husband were Holocaust survivors. Allied soldiers found them in 1946. They were living as displaced persons awaiting immigration to the United States. Their 3rd son, Victor, was born in Germany after the war. After immigration to the United States, the family lived with Anna's paternal uncle, Julian Borowko, in Norwood, MA until they were able to find a place of their own and eventually bought a home in Norwood. Anna had a daughter, Helen, born in 1952. Anna worked at part-time jobs, first cleaning the Norwood Theater. Later working as a nurses aide at Maple Grove Manor where she was well loved and respected by staff and patient. She and her husband were able to rebuild their lives, however the pain of losing their children and the sights of war stayed forever with them until their deaths one week apart. Nikander died from metastasis of prostate cancer and 1 week later Anna died from what the doctor's called a broken heart. The pain of losing her husband intensified the pain of losing her children, her home, her family, because of WW2.
Anna Lapuszynski of Norwood, Norfolk County, MA was born on May 20, 1919, and died at age 83 years old on November 24, 2002.
