Anna Mogensen Aug 2, 1884 - Oct 1972 Williston, North Dakota

Anna Mogenson was known only as Mogey to us. That is how she introduced herself when we moved into our house across the alley from her off of 4th Avenue in Williston. She showed up to our front door with a pound of ground beef knowing that we hadn't had a hot meal since we left Wisconsin. Over the five years we lived near her, I visited her frequently as a little boy and she told me stories of how she was raised by Indians. I wish I knew her real story and where she came from. She was a wonderful neighbor.and always had cookies on hand. I remember one Halloween, she sat outside her door with an unloaded shotgun to scare the kids. I wasn't scared because I knew it was her. We moved from Williston in 1969 and I remember seeing her death notice in the Minot Daily a few years later. I wish I could have gone to her funeral. She was a great lady!
