Carl A Brorson was born in the Smoland province in Sweden in 1883. He studied engineering and then moved to San Diego right before World War I,. He got sent back to Europe soon after because he was drafted into the war effort. After returning, he married Mabel Anderson and had two sons, Carl Oscar and Donald. He remained in San Diego the rest of his life and was a successful contractor. His construction business built multiple buildings and bridges in the San Diego area, including some at the Salk Institute. When he retired, he moved to Spring Valley CA, in the Mt. St. Miguel retirement home. He was the 6th resident to move into the now fairly large community. He will be remembered for his good humor and kindness.

Carl Oscar Brorson was born in 1924, in San Diego California. He was the son of Carl A Brorson and Mabelle F Brorson (nee Anderson) of San Diego. He was the husband of Connie Brorson and father of two sons: Stuart of Arlington MA and Kurt of Naples FL.. He was a rower in high school, and also an amateur radio operator (ham radio). After graduating from high school in San Diego, he joined the Army and served in World War II from 1943 to 1946. After the war, he graduated from University of California at Berkeley with a BS in Engineering. After college he moved back to San Diego where he worked in his father’s construction firm and ultimately met Connie Conover. They married in 1959 and had two sons. In 1971, the family moved to Hinsdale IL, and then retired to Bloomington IN in 1991. In retirement, Connie and Carl spent a year touring the USA in an RV. They settled in Bloomington because of access to student and faculty concerts at the IU music school. The last three years of his life were in Naples, where both Carl and Connie moved to be close to their son Kurt. Connie passed away in 2021, but for 9 months Carl carried on. In this period, he enjoyed Zoom calls and visits from family, having a martini with his pals every Wednesday and going to Kurt’s condo in Ft. Myers every weekend. Carl passed away at 97 on September 4, 2022 in Naples FL. Carl will be remembered for his intelligence, optimism and love for life.

Carl Brorson of Elizabeth, Otter Tail County, Minnesota was born on June 23, 1887, and died at age 84 years old in July 1971.

Carl Brorson of Spring Valley, Pierce County, Wisconsin was born on July 21, 1897, and died at age 75 years old in August 1972.
