She had three sisters, one of whom was Anna (1936 - 2022). Carmela immigrated to the United States to New York in February of 1954 and applied for naturalization on October 26th, 1962 in Chicago, Illinois. Carmela Marena married Michele Manzo (1932 - 1989) on March 19th, 1952. They had five children: four daughters and one son. Carmela died on January 24th 1993 in Melrose Park, Illinois, at the age of 59.
