Clement Uhl of Bradford, Harrison County, Indiana was born on December 2, 1896, and died at age 82 years old in September 1979.
Clement Uhl started Toledo Metal Furniture company in 1903 with his brothers Philip and Joe Uhl. Their first customer was the Hoffman Ice cream and candy store in Toledo , Ohio.
Clement designed and engineered their product line. He had numerous furniture patents through out his career.He even designed a posterpeic chair back in the 1920's.
Toledo Metal Furniture manufactured office and school furniture for sixty years. One of their famous customers was Thomas Edison who had a table built for his dictaphone.
Today, antique dealers buy and sell Uhl furniture all over the country.The furniture was so well built that people are still using it today.
