David Fry was my good friend of years following my relationship with him. He was a good guy and loved by all my friends and family who met him. He was a product NOT of his environment. He had a heart of gold and suffered a hard early childhood with less then little emotional support. He was entered into youth authority and put in group homes by his mother. He had a felony DUI at 17 years of age and was sentenced as an adult. Due to starting fires as a child (a sign of molestation) Folsom Prison assigned him to level four security. There he had to join prison gangs to protect himself in order to not become a victim of rape or murder. David did Not judge others and had not a prejudice bone in his body. Gang life was not by choice for him. He struggled with not being able to forgive himself for whatever he had to do in Prison. The Demons of his past could be seen on his body as he had prison tattoos that were demons. My feeling was the demons that plagued him from the event of past molestation as a child. He was released from Folsom Prison at age 25. This is when I met him and he had no signs of gang prejudice etc. David was kind and helpful to all. He was not interested in gangs and refused to interact around anyone related to those activities. He realized getting out of the white Folsom Prison gang would put him in danger. He always feared for his life and specifically feared a youngster from the gang would stab him to death. In prison the gang member's are not ever to get out of the group, you are expected to be in it for life or....David Fry's life fear became a reality when he was stabbed to death by a younger man who was 23 and was NOTcharged for his murder. A prejudice on the part of the DA's office as to knowing his past history of his prison time in Folsom. David was a simple man with a struggle of emotions and demons. He had a father and sister that loved him and a friend for life in me. I never stop thinking of David and miss him to often for comfort. He will always be in my heart and thoughts. David Dale Fry was a registered organ donor and it haunts me to know that when I called the Coroner at the Sacramento Mercy San Juan Hospital he could not tell me if David had died in the ambulance or at the hospital. *Donors of organs must be in their 30's at the latest age. The other haunting thing is that the Sacramento Police officer who investigated the murder detained him for questioning prior to allowing him to be cared for by the ambulance. David was a victim of the system in so many tragic was throughout his life and certainly it continued even after he took his last breath at age 35.
