David Sword Kemerer Jan 1850 - 1934 Export, Pennsylvania, United States

David Sword Kemerer owned many acres of farm land, owned a stone quarry which was used to build Export bank, taught school at one room Clark School before Bessie Staymates, was the last operator of the log toll house on the pike; was tax collector. Married Mary Catherine Stout; had 10 children of which one Duncan McAlister Kemerer was my father. He built the beautiful house near the log house. The historic society has taken over some of his former land and holds a yearly Heritage Festival each September on his former property. He was a good man and saved many a farmer’s land when he was tax collector during the depression days. His heritage is traced back to Germany and a Von Kaemmerer, a knight of the king in the first crusade.
