Dennis was born in India to Alfred Rowland a high ranking official of the Indian railways and Mary Dorothea Murphy daugter of a prominent surgeon, Dennis had two half siblings from his fathers first marriage to Annie louise Cowan.Frederick cecil b1902 .James Marjoriebanks b1903.and one full sibling Cynthia Agnes b 1907.Dennis proved to be the black sheep of the familyand cut all ties with them in c1931.Denis excelled in all sports at school and at Oxford.Dennis was the recipient of a Military Medal for his bravery and leadership as a tank commander in the Royal Tank Regiment serving with 3RTR/7RTR.Alarger than life character he butted heads with authority most of his life.He married my Aunt Dora Ewart in Aldershot in 1940 and died 3 weeks short of their 3rd anniversary.
