He was born in Ortona, Italy, living there until he was about five years old. He then came via ocean liner with his father to the USA, entering through Ellis Island. His father worked for a shipping company based in Philadelphia, where eventually Ettore's mother and siblings all lived with his father. His father died when Ettore was 12, in a shipyard accident. The younger children were parcelled out, but Ettore lived on his own henceforth, first working as a hod-carrier for a company in Philadelphia. The owner of the company took and interest in Hector (as he became known) and made it possible for him to attend art school at the Art Institute in Philadelphia. He left Philadelphia with his wife, Selena, and infant son, Ettore Jr., and moved to Chicago, where he lived until late in his life, when he moved to Tennessee to live with his son and daughter-in-law after the death of his second wife, Cora. Hector was an accomplished artist (in oils), although the family has no recollection of his having a showing of his art. He was a good friend and neighbor, and a well-loved grandfather.
Ettore Storto of Kingston, Roane County, TD was born on December 23, 1918 in Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania United States to Ettore Storto (Senior) and Selena (Peg) Storto. He married Edna Annabelle (Annie) Robison Storto, and had children William Barton Storto and Mary Margaret Storto Blanchard. Ettore Storto died at age 83 years old on November 12, 2002 at at home in Westshore Estates 118 Westcliff Point, in Kingston, Roane County, TD.
