Felix J Bessolo Jr. was born to Felix Peter Bessolo (1885 - 1976) and Mary Teresa Capella (1894 - 1950). His father was born in Italy. He had siblings Clara Mamie (1913 - 1995), Mamie Anna (1916 - 2004), Irene (1919 - 2012), and Dante Hector Bessolo (1929 - 2011).
A veteran of World War II, Felix enlisted in the United States Army on July 7, 1943 and was discharged on November 29, 1945. According to records, he eventually entered the United States Army Air Corps, serving as a flight officer on a heavy bomber, and was a prisoner of war in Germany.
Felix married Mary Ann Dus Sault (1925 - 2004) on March 27, 1946, in Lucas, Ohio. They had six children, three sons and three daughters, including Staff Sergeant Dale Andre Bessolo, born in 1949.
