At the time of his registration for the draft on February 15, 1942, Frank Bommelyn was 20 years old and resided in Paterson, Passaic, New Jersey. He was employed by Murphy Door Bed on Waitt St. in Paterson, NJ. On December 21, 1942, Frank enlisted in the US Army in Newark, New Jersey. He was assigned to the Branch Immaterial - Warrant Officers, USA and was classified as a Private and assigned to the Selectees (Enlisted Men) branch of the Army. Frank served in the Army for almost three years, from December 30, 1942, to December 9, 1945. A year after his discharge, in 1946, he married Nadia Marie Tyteca (1923-2004).
