Frank Roy Burnaugh was born on June 6, 1918 in Lusk, Niobrara County, Wyoming to parents Joseph Hayes Burnaugh (1894-1948) andMarjorie Mae Sturman (1897-1918).
Frank attended Lusk High School where he was a star athlete, lettering in 4 sports. He graduated in 1936 and after graduation, he worked in the oil fields in Wyoming and in the midwestern and southern states.
On October 16, 1940, he registered for military service in Lusk, Niobrara, Wyoming. At the time of his registration, Frank was employed by the Rocky Mountain Drilling Co. Then on June 15, 1945, Frank enlisted in the Army at Fort Logan, Colorado. He became a Private and joined the Army branch.
Frank Burnaugh's military service lasted from June 15, 1945, to June 16, 1946, when he was discharged. Throughout World War II, he served in the European Theater of Operations, where he exhibited dedication and skill, rising to the rank of Master Sergeant.
After his military service, Frank returned to the Lusk area where he worked as a ranch foreman, the Deputy County Clerk, and was also the Clerk of District Court of Sioux County, Nebraska.
In 1952 he and his family moved to California where he became a Drilling Superintendent of Coastal Drilling and R. W. Montgomery Drilling Co. He brought in the first gas discovery in Alaska.
Frank Burnaugh of Auburn, King County, Washington was born on May 10, 1875, and died at age 91 years old in December 1966.
