Frank Hugo Holquist was born on April 12, 1922 in Oil City, Pennsylvania, USA to parents Frank Hugo Sigfrid Holquist (1898-1934) and Alice Marie Hazlett (1900-1924). He had a half brother, Lawrence George Hazlett (1920-1999).
He grew up and spent his early adult life in Oil City, Venango, Pennsylvania, USA and then enlisted on October 29, 1942 in Erie Pennsylvania. He was discharged from the Army on March 16, 1946. A year later he either re-enlisted or was drafted back into the Army on March 11, 1947 and served until October 2, 1947.
In 1946, he married Claudeen Mar Shue and he was also married to Nellie M Strosnider.
