George Otto Drosten Jr. was born to George Otton Drosten (1894-1970) and Ruby May Alice McCoy (1898-1957), and had a half siblings Everett Harold Real (1914-1973), LaVern Robert Nielsen (1924-2007), Loren Edward Nielsen (1925-1998), Delbert Ray Nielsen (1931-1990), and Ronald Wayne Nielsen (1933-2019).
