An Old Colonist. - The funeral of one of the earliest settlers in the North down district - Mrs. Grace Dewhurst, relict of the late Mr. C. Dewhurst - took place on Wednesday afternoon, the remains being interred in the family grave, in the Wesley Vale churchyard, the Rev. F. C. Flockart officiating. Notwithstanding her advanced age - 78 years - she was in excellent health up to two years ago ( says the "N. W. Post"), when she was seized with a paralytic stroke, and was prostrated with a similar attack some months afterwards. On Friday night she suffered from another seizure, to which she succumbed on Monday night. The deceased lady was a native of Cornwall ( England ), and came to Tasmania when quite a girl, shortly afterwards settling at Northdown. She was married twice, the surviving members of the first family being Mr. J. Blight ( Penguin ), Mrs. G. Dewhurst ( Moriarty ), Mr. R. Blight ( Victoria ), and Mrs. G. Green ( Thirlstane ). Mrs. G. Brown ( Wesley Vale ), and Mr. J. Dewhurst ( East Devonport ) are members of the second family. Deceased had a host of sincere friends who esteemed her kindly disposition and motherly advice, and general regret is expressed at her somewhat sudden demise.
