Henry Reitzel was born 6-26-1844. Parents uncertain. Henry Reitzel was a soldier in the United States Civil War. He was a Union soldier who died 10-28-1889 at age 45. Death was caused as a result of sickness or debility from the war. Claims for pension document this. He married Annie Kauffman Fortna. After and perhaps before Henry's death, his family lived on the Wilson College farm and earned their living there. He was buried in Upper Strasburg, PA at the Kauffman Mennonite Church. This was Annie's family church and today is part of the land taken by Letterkenny Army Depot. They had the following 7 children: Fanny b 1868 md John Upperman William b 1870 Curtis b 1872 John b 1874 Albertus b 1876 Maggie b 1879 died young Naomi b 1881 md Walter Shields Annie died in Feb 18 1918. She was buried at Chambersburg Mennonite church very close her home. The roads were impassable due to snow and they were unable to bury her at Kauffman Menno Church beside Henry and Maggie.
