I dont know much about him. He was the true love, of my precious Mother. When I was in around 4th grade, she was looking at some old picture album, she showed me a photo & said " This is Herb" I used to listen to him play the drums for hours". I was thinking- "WHAT is wrong with my Mother, she looks & sounds all weird or something! " Time went on, I was grown, living in LA, in my late 20s. My Mother Betty, , wrote me, to tell me she & Herb were getting married in Illinois, and well, I wasnt invited...I was crushed. I didnt understand it then, that when you're that old, 70s-you ARE in a rush, when its right. It seems Herbs wife had died, and a very weird set of circumstances, alerted my Mother to this fact, while she was living in Redneckville Florida.She was British, never belonged here really, happened to fall in love with my handsome young Father, bad choice. It was something very strange, that occured, a friend had seen something in a magazine, he was kind of infamous, in a good way, that person went to maybe- English boarding school with Mama, in the 1930s, and wrote her. Next thing you know, my Father comes home & she & everything of hers, was gone. She had contacted him, hired a moving van & packed & left, all, in secret. She, was still in love with Herb & NOT going to miss, having SOME real happiness in her life. They married & toured Europe, the 2nd tour for her. They were both amazing artists, Herb was one by profession, h was THAT good. She, Herb & my Aunt came to visit me in Key Largo, stayed at a local small hotel, & we all went down to hav a day in Key West. Thats the only time I met him, he was with MY mother, so, I was jealous, so, of course I didnt like him. But later, I bought him a set of airplane salt & pepper shakers, & I hope my Mother was telling the truth, when she said- He loved them ! But, he made her- very happy, and Im blessed with that. He was a pilot, he had built his own plane, they often went flying together. It was her dream life. Finally. During an air show, Herb was up, alone. He had an aneurysm, and thats all I know. All she would say, is " I WISH, I had been up there with him ! " They only got- three years together, but oh my God, she was happy, she treated his children & theirs, like her own, I remained jealous, of them... Shea very poor choice picking BNY MELLON BANK , FOR A TRUST, i BARELY GET BY, BUT SHE REMEMBERED , IN HER PARKINSON'S, , THAT SOMETHING WAS A PROBLEM FOR ME- i HAD FALLEN FROM MY ROOF ( a brick went into a spinal bone) & LOST ABILITY TO WORK. (Sorry for the Caps! ) ~ ~~ She, kept everything on paper, after she passed away I saw HOW much money she had Herbs Family, I was floored... Sooo, no, they didnt get Herbs paintings back, trust me, I need the money, sorry. You try living on $900 a month! She lost her Faith. She moved to Washington, to be close to her Brother & Sister. She was never really happy after that, but she tried. Im her only child, an adopted daughter. ~ Im SO glad, she did, get a little piece of joy, & I wish he would have stayed with her- forever, her forever, not his.
