Irma (Wenzel) Twisselman Oct 8, 1909 - Nov 1985 Clifton Heights, Pennsylvania

Irma was my grandmother, we called her Oma. She grew up as a society girl and the only child of a well loved and respected dentist in Philadelphia. She was a debutante and attended the most prestigious private schools and Academy of dance, for Ballet. As a daughter of successful german immigrants, she enjoyed the best that Philadelphia had to offer and was a lifelong member of the German and Bavarian clubs. She met and married Max Twisselman, a german engineer who had immigrated to the United States from Germany also. They settled in Clifton Heights (Alden)(suburbs of Philadelphia). She and her husband built their own home and raised two daughters. They also built apartment buildings and became landlords. She and her husband traveled frequently back and forth to Germany and Spain. Oma remained a wife , mother and landlord for most of her life. In 1985 she was diagnosed with breast/bone cancer. She relocated to New Port Richey Florida briefly to be with family and passed away in November 1985. Oma was an excellent cook and fancied herself a novice wine maker. We grandkids loved to tease her and likened her to Edith Bunker from the 70's sitcom "All in the Family". None of us were allowed to watch"Hogans Heroes" while at her house because she said it made fun of germans, lol. She was very proud of her ancestry and a very generous person. She was laid to rest in New Port Richey Florida.
