The son of Francis Joseph "Frank" Monsell (1921 - 2014), and Marion Firstbrook (1920 - 2011), James F Monsell had 3 siblings: Roger, Keven, and Carol. Both of his parents had been born in New Jersey.
He married Patricia Monsell, formerly Patricia A. Murray (1953 - 2004) on August 11, 1974, in Plainfield, New Jersey and they had children Jason Monsell and Jennifer. See James Francis Monsell: Obituary. A transcription of the article about their wedding is at Monsell - Murray.
Frank's wife, Pat, was later accused of his murder. Patricia had tried to solicit their son, Jason Monsell. to murder his father, but he wouldn't do it. So she sent Jason outside to provide cover noise (he ran a power washer) while his mother shot his father 4 times in the head and chest. The family (Patricia Monsell, Jason Monsell, and Jennifer) then went to a mall to see a movie, providing them with an alibi. When they returned home after the movie, James Francis Monsell, called the police and reported her husband's death. Evidently, Jennifer knew nothing about the crime.

Patricia Monsell was accused of James' murder and committed suicide soon after.

James Junior Monsell of Omaha, Douglas County, NE was born on July 5, 1932, and died at age 64 years old on June 26, 1997. James Monsell was buried at Ft. Leavenworth National Cemetery
