John Edward Fotta was born on May 27, 1918 in DuBois, Pennsylvania, USA to parents John Joseph Fotta (1891-1958) and Elizabeth Mary Pollack (1888-1957). He had siblings Joseph Stephen (1912-1942) and Pauline L Fotta (1913-1940).
He married Victoria C Wojtaszek (1921-2002) and together they had children Christine Victoria (1947-2002), John James (1949-1979), and James E Fotta (1952-2021). John Fotta enlisted on January 13, 1941 in Du Boise Pennsylvania and was a Private in the National Guard. He was discharged on September 27, 1945 and a veteran of World War II.
