John Daniel Petzing was born on September 23, 1920 to parents Mary E. "Mammie" Cutw (1901-c. 1964) and Daniel C. Petzing Jr. (born April 11, 1900). He grew up in Rochester, Monroe, New York and had a sister Marie Petzing, who was 22 years older than him.
He enlisted on February 16, 1944 in Rochester New York and served as a Cpl is the US Army Air Force and is a veteran of World War II.
In 1945, he married Florence T Basley (born 1925) in Lubbock, Texas and the couple had two children together.
John Petzing of Illinois was born on September 2, 1893, and died at age 69 years old in November 1962.
