John Stallaby is the son of Dukes Stallaby (1889-1975) and Emalie Baker Stallaby (1893-). He was born in Oklahoma on March 4, 1915 and was one of 15 children in his family growing up in Salonia, Latimer, Oklahoma, USA. He married Ida thompson Stallaby (1916–1998) on June 24, 1932 in Latimer, Oklahoma, USA. Together the couple had three sons including John Stallaby Jr (1934-1999) and Calvin Ray Stallaby (1937-1989). John registered for the draft on October 16, 1940, at the age of 25 in Red Oak, Latimer, Oklahoma. Before enlisting, John was employed in a WPA Project, demonstrating his dedication to both his community and his civilian occupation. On April 21, 1944, John made the courageous decision to enlist in the military, joining the Selectees (Enlisted Men) component with no branch assignment. John's military serial number was 38697357, serving as his unique identifier within the armed forces. He served in the 315th Infantry, A/S Inf, specifically assigned to Company "G" of the 147th Infantry. John Stallaby Sr. was killed in action on January 11, 1945 in the European Theatre fighting during World War II.
