He was born, raised, and lived most of his life in Olyphant, PA. He married Helen Dzuriwsin (1909–1997) on July 26, 1926 in Dunmore, PA and the couple had three daughters, three stillborn children, and a son Joseph Stepehn Semonich (1937-2008). Joseph Semonich passed away on November 21, 1988 in Olyphant, Pennsylvania and is buried in the Saints Cyril and Methodius Catholic Cemetery in Bethlehem, Northampton County, Pennsylvania.
