Lawrence Elmer Bodeis was born in Fremont Township, Michigan. He was adopted by John Bodeis Jr. (1885 - 1970) and Elisabetha "Lilli" A. Zissler (1887 - 1955), and grew up with his sister Bertha Wilma Bodeis. On April 1, 1934, "Larry" Bodeis married Elvera Olga Schmucker (1913 - 1974) in Mayville, Michigan. They had three children: Lawrence "Larry" Paul, Ellene M., and another son. Later, around 1973, Lawrence married Rosetta F. Alldred (1924 - 2004). He passed away in Sarnia, Ontario, Canada.
