4 Lila Crowley Biographies

I married Lila Crowley's granddaughter Kay Lynn Crowley in the Summer of 1971. Lila was a retired high school teacher at Oconee County High School and at the time resided in Watkinsville. I also knew her husband Roy Crowley who had been the sheriff of Oconee County. He had suffered a stroke and was disabled which changed his personality. So, they at the time I knew them lived apart. Lila shared a duplex with her son Jimmy. Two other of her sons I remember - were Andy (a minister) and Judd who I think lived in California. Before her death Lila came up to Blacksburg, Virginia with Jimmy to visit us - I think she wanted to check on Kay - I had some time to talk with her - she was suffering from an abdominal cancer - she told me that although Kay and I were way too young to be married - that it was for the best to get Kay away from Watkinsville and out into the world. I did not know exactly why it was best to get Kay away from Georgia - but many years later in retrospect, I now understand.
