Callan 1937 - 2025 The world became a kinder and gentler place on January 10, 1937, when Maureen E. Callan was born. Her parents were Philip and Dorothea (Foye) Callan. At 88 years old, she sadly passed on Wednesday February 12, 2025, after a long and happy life. Her kind and radiant smile, and her quick Irish wit, will be greatly missed. Maureen was raised in Springfield and graduated from Our Lady of Hope and Cathedral High School, after which she became the youngest operator at New England Telephone. She lived most of her adult life in Auburndale MA and enjoyed regular visits to Maine to visit her many relatives. She enjoyed retirement after over 40 years of service to the phone company. In 2016 she moved back to Western MA and easily made many new friends and enjoyed her time with her family. Preceded in death by her brother John in 2023, she is survived by her brother Philip J. Callan, Jr of Longmeadow, and many nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday February 20, 2025, at 10 am at St Mary's Parish, 519 Longmeadow St., Longmeadow. Burial will be held privately for the family. Her care and services are entrusted to Forastiere Smith Funeral & Cremation. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Jericho, 537 Northampton Road, Holyoke, MA 01040.
