Melville Jerome Eschwege was born on April 18, 1905 in the state of New York to parents Sadie Shearman Eschwege (1881-1965) and Louis Eschwege (1872-1952). He had 2 siblings, Mehetable Eschwege (1906-?) and Edmund E. Eschwege (1916-1945).
Melville grew up in New York, and his family moved to Pennsylvania when he was a teenager.
As an adult, he moved back to New York and married Sarah D. Lovejoy (1907-1933) on August 2, 1926 in Utica, New York. 7 years after they got married, Sarah died.
A year later, he remarried on June 8, 1936 to Lillian Jane Gray (1902-1946) in Manhattan, New York. The couple moved to Miami Beach, Florida in 1940. 4 years later, they divorced on Dec 7, 1944.
He then married again in January 1956 and divorced his third wife in March of 1958.
Melville married his fourth wife, Mary Kay Weaver (1918-2001) on Jan 6, 1966 in Dallas, Texas. She is known as the founder of the famous "Mary Kay Cosmetics INC".
The couple lived in Texas until Melville's death on July 7, 1980.
