Mike was family to me. He was my grandfathers best friend and my mentor. He taught me so much if the few short years I knew him. And we grew a relationship that can only be described as family. Almost a father and son relationship. I wish I could have been with him in his finally moments. But I still have his necklace with his cross on it and I know he is always with me. Mike made an impact on my life that saved me. If it weren't for him I most likely would have flunked out of school. Kept selling drugs and was just on an utterly wrong path. Mike knew things about me that no one knew and kept secrets that I couldn't have trusted anyone else with. Mike was a man who would share his time with you out of the kindness of his heart. Not for personal gain. He was a very generous man and even though he was not a rich man he enriched the lives of everyone he knew. He helped families in need. Started campaigns to help people with illnesses of any kind. A fundraiser by the name of riding for the handicapped was one of mikes ultimate goals that time didn't seem to allow him to completely follow through. Mike was an avid motorcycle enthusiast who seemed always at home on the open road when not home with our family. Mike was a great man and a true gift to this planet who was taken long before his time. But in his 66 years on this planet mike kept an almost childlike innocence even in the tough life he endured. From his military days in the army. To his devastating car accident which would have left most men lying in an emotional and physical state of being broken. Mike rose to any challenges like a fabled hero. A man of action and decisiveness which is only seen once in a lifetime. His ultimate battle with cancer. Which took his life. Mike fought to his dying breath to bring joy and happiness to families and friends and accepted all into his heart no matter the past. A man who was truly indiscriminate and humble. Mike left me with much knowledge and many memories which have stayed with me and shall never be forgotten. I hope he saves me a place in heaven so we can one day ride together and I hope I can make him and my family proud in the coming years. Mikes body may have perished but the memories of him and his soul will forever love on. From me to my kids and hopefully from them to there's. Mike taught me never to look upon others to judge them for their pasts but to look past their flaws to what truly lies beneath. He taught me how to control my anger and how to trust and care for people unconditionally. And for that I have the utmost gratitude to this man and wish to say that mike I love you. And thank you for all you did for me and my family. You are a great man.
