Mildred Hargrove, century long resident of the Niwot/Longmont area, died peacefully after a brief illness on Friday morning, October 29, 2010 at The Bridge.
Mildred Louise Knaus was born December 11, 1908 in Niwot, to Clemens E. and Kathleen (Green) Knaus. She grew up on the family farm, attended school in Niwot and was a graduate of Boulder High School (then called Boulder Prep).
She married Virgil C. Norrish, former assistant postmaster and WWII Naval Veteran, in 1928, and this marriage was blessed with their two children, Barbara and Ralph. Virgil died in 1962.
She then married George A. Richart (former mayor of Longmont and Boulder County Sheriff). Together they traveled the world for 15 years. George died in 1980.
In 1985 she married Fred Hargrove and they enjoyed 23 years together before his death in 2007. They were active members of the Nelson Road Baptist Church.
Mildred worked for the First National Bank of Longmont for several years, and at BiRite Drug.
In addition to her husbands, she was predeceased by her son Ralph C. Norrish, brothers Earl and Glen Knaus, sisters Helen Hodgson and Maxine Steele.
Survived by daughter Barbara (Mel) Peppler, daughter-in-law Nancy Norrish of La Verne, CA, five grandchildren, five great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren, several step children, step grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She loved life and was loved and will be missed by many.
Mildred F Norrish of Lake Havasu City, Mohave County, AZ was born on November 12, 1913, and died at age 77 years old on July 30, 1991.
Mildred F Norrish of Durand, Pepin County, WI was born on December 10, 1899, and died at age 88 years old on June 9, 1988.
