Murray Moses Ostrow was born on October 21, 1924 in Brighton Beach, Kings County (Brooklyn), New York, USA. He is the son of Emanuel Maximilian Ostrow (1894-1972) and Minnie Aratotsky (1896-1959). He had sisters Bessie Ostrow (1916-1997) and Rosyln Ostrow (1917-1948).
