My name is Lesley Wilson and I am writing to you from New Zealand. In Albany , Auckland , New Zealand there is a war memorial library and inside there is a roll of honour with Norris McGowans name on it. I am currently working on a project to remember him along with the other 24 men from Albany who were killed in WW1. I have made and painted white wooden crosses that are going to have their name and photo on them to go in the garden outside of the Albany War memorial library from 4th August 2014.
It has taken us alot of work to find Norris McGowan and due to a fantastic genealogist called Audrey Barney who has worked very hard looking up census and numerous other avenues she has found his information.I just wanted to make contact with you to tell you he will be remembered from half way across the world. If you do have a photo of him that I can put on his cross that would be a miracle, and of course I will send you a photo of it all set up outside the library.
