My name is Britt McKinley Mulhollem, I was the only child of Paul R. Mulhollem and Mary Etta Eddings Mulhollem, I was born October 30, 1946. My father was retired from the US NAVY. He was a survivor of a COLD WAR SHOOT DOWN in 1954 . He was a Chief Petty Officer of Maintenance for the aircraft. His base was near the Russian border, and while riding 'along' for a check out flight, the P2V he was in was shot down in the Sea of Japan. there were 10 souls on board, 9 survived , my dad was one of them. They were picked up the next day (after a cold night in the Sea of Japan!) The 'rescurers' were a sight for sore eyes, The incident almost caused WW3 . I was 8 years old at the time, so remember all the 'fuss' and the newspaper reporters coming to our home. My mom recently gave me all the clippings from several papers. My dad wrote a 'note' that was with the clippings, it said "these are the names of the crew who saved us, I want to contact each one to thank them" I do not know if he ever got that chance, so i left a note of appreciation to the Pilot of the Rescue plane Capt. Knappenburger on a Navy ColdWar shootdown page on the Internet. i never heard from him or any family members, but would like to. My dad passed away in 1988, my mom Mary Eddings Mulhollem is still living and is 89 years old..in Oceanside Calif.

Paul B Mulhollem of Anderson, Madison County, IN was born on March 29, 1925, and died at age 73 years old on July 19, 1998.
