Ralph was a young pilot paying for his own training prior to WWII. He went on to become a test pilot for North American Aviation and flight tested the famous P-51 Mustang as it rolled off the flight line (with about 9 other test pilots). He did that until they stopped building the P-51 after the war. He went on to test the become a test pilot for the Fairchild C-82 flying boxcar and many other airplanes in his lifetime. He claims to have flown over 5,000 test flights. He had many other flying and business ventures, written down in an autobiography titled "The Love of Flying". He was a remarkable person who returned to his roots in SW Missouri and farmed.
Ralph L Fehring of Morrison, Noble County, OK was born on February 17, 1932, and died at age 69 years old on December 12, 2001.
